Paranoia: Islam replaces Communism

It is fascinating to see how common enemies evolve rapidly, as a need of fragmented groups to feel "united" against someone, an idea or a religion. Islam has replaced Communism in the paranoia of Europeans elite, probably also of the USA. In the same meeting, I once faced Western Europeans and former Communists converging on the risks of a rising Islam community and visibility in Europe.  I could have replaced the word "Islam" by "communism" and the discussion would have been exactly the same, but 30 years ago. Old foes are new best friends, and as they have nothing in common, they find common ennemies. A bit despairing.
