Private sphere : for bank secrecy, not CCTV

Tenants of the banking secrecy in Switzerland and else appeal to the protection of the private sphere of individuals to give a philosophical basis to fiscal evasion and fraud. OK. But the private sphere also ecompasses other aspect of human life than money. It encompasses freedom of thinking, of gathering, of religion, etc. So my point is simple: I'll reconsider my position on the the private sphere approach of banking secrecy when the people promoting it will agree to ...dismantle all CCTV on the public domain, filming all of us.... Once upon a time a small European country was looking for a name, a name which would not compete with another one already existing - and located very close. The name found was Schwitzerland or as, we know it now, Switzerland. If you analysis it , the name is undoubtedly based on one of the canton's name, Schwytz. It is a mistake to believe that a judge reconstructs and that a popualtion needs a criminal proceeding to forget and forgive. A judge condemns and imprisons. The need for... [Lire la suite]

adaptation: from biology to sociology

A disturbing discourse reappears routinely on societies or civilisations that are growing increasingly powerful, or at least seem to do so. This is the discourse on the capacities to "adapt". Like, in biology, some viruses or bacteria are described. They adapt to new contexts and can therefore imply a risk to the dominant power or the current system they live in. We hear this discourse vers often on China. In this view, the Chinese civilisation would possess a great capacity to adapt. A recent example comes from the mouth of... [Lire la suite]
